Nectar vs Purple Mattress: Which One Will Help You Sleep Better? [2019]

Can’t decide between a Nectar vs Purple Mattress? Is your old mattress giving you back pains and sleepless nights? We break down the Purple and Nectar to see which one will give you the best night’s sleep.

Choosing the mattress of your dreams is a difficult task indeed. From motion transfer to sinkage and firmness level, a lot of things have to be kept in mind before buying a mattress.

And then the choices become even more complicated when you have to choose between two builds, one memory foam and the other polymer.

But to help you out with your decision today, we have brought a comprehensive review on two of the most popular mattress brands in today’s market.

While one specializes in memory foam, the other is all about creating comfort out of high-elastic polymer.

So, sit back and read along.

Nectar Mattress: A Comprehensive Review

1. Construction

Nectar (see here for full Nectar Mattress review) is made out of three layers of memory foam, which is integrated in such a way that it’s capable of contouring a lying body uniformly.

Additionally, the three layers are packed within a plush, gel quilted cover that keeps the mattress fresh and aerated in the hot months.

2. The Layers

The initial layer of the Nectar mattress is made out of their trademarked LushFoam, which contains a unique gel technology which will not let you sleep hot.

While the first layer cools, the succeeding 1.5 inches of Adaptive Hi Core Memory has a very high response time that creates the sufficient amount of bounce to contour the body and help relieve pressure.

The final layer is made of dense poly foam; a High Vegetable Base Super Core that supports the complete mattress structure and gives it some durability.

3. Covering

The cover of the nectar mattress is made out of Tencel Cotton that keeps the bed fresh and bedbug-free for years. It is very eco-friendly and comes with CertiPUR-US and OEKO-TEX certification.

A 1-inch layer of gel memory foam is also quilted into it, so that even though the memory foam absorbs heat, the mattress can dissipate it quickly and not let the person sleep hot.

4. Firmness.

Nectar mattresses strive to maintain a somewhat universal level of firmness, which is neither too soft nor too firm. And if we’re to put it on a scale of 10, it would rest somewhere around 6.5.

5. Feel, Motion Transfer, and Sinkage.

The Tencel Cotton cover alone, gives a very plush and inviting feel to the touch, and provides a warm hugging sensation when one lies down.

The Adaptive Hi Core Memory makes the Nectar mattress one of the best when it comes to minimizing motion transfer. Apart from contouring, this layer is specially formed to isolate movement vibrations at its source.

Sinkage is optimal as well, even though the mattress provides a hugging feel, the dense polyfoam doesn’t allow it to sink too much, while at the same time providing adequate edge support.

Purple Mattress: A Comprehensive Review.

1. Construction.

The comfort layers of the Purple mattress are uniquely constructed out of hyper-elastic polymer, which are placed in such a way that they form a grid-like structure.

All the various layers of polyester, viscose, lycra, elastic polymer and polyfoam are held within a porous yet thin and stretchable cover, which keeps the mattress aerated and fresh.

2. The Layers.

Purple mattress is somewhat superior to Nectar when it comes to even weight distribution and stress relief from the primary pressure zones. And this is all thanks to the initial 2-inch zone of comfort layer, which is made of hyper-elastic polymer.

The middle layer is the transitional one, and is made of poly foam with a 1.8-pound density, which provides the much-needed compression support for the mattress.

And for foundational support, the final layer is also made of poly foam, but is denser (around 2.0-pound density), that helps the structure keep its shape.

3. Covering.

The Purple mattress’ covering is one of the most important factors that keeps the mattress cool on hot summer nights. Made out of a blend of polyester, viscose, and lycra, the cover is inherently soft, breathable and thin, allowing optimal airflow into the mattress.

Lycra also helps in extracting moisture, which dissipates much of the humidity from the sleeping body.

4. Firmness.

Just like Nectar, Purple has a universal firmness of 6.5. Which is absolutely perfect for back and side sleepers, but not firm enough for the heavier stomach sleepers.

5. Feel, Motion Transfer and Sinkage.

Purple mattress is a lot similar to Nectar when it comes to feel and the rich hugging warmth that all side sleepers crave for.

But when it comes to motion transfer, Nectar has it beat. Unlike memory foam, hyper-elastic polymers no matter how well layered are not able to isolate motion vibrations all that well.

However, on the other hand, Purple has a superior edge support and sinkage, allowing one to utilize the entirety of the bed to lie down.

Purple Pricing

Purple mattresses come in 4 different sizes with the following prices (a bit more expensive than Nectar):

Mattress Size Pricing
Twin XL $699
Queen $999
King $1299
California King $1299

  2. Shipping: Free delivery only to continental US States.
  3. Packaging: Product is compressed and packed in a bag.
  4. Returns: 100% money back if you are dissatisfied by the end of your trial.
  5. Warranty: 10 years of warranty.
  6. Country of Manufacturing: USA
